Gina, the question you asked about all the spurious books written over several hundred years claiming to be written by one or the other persons in the Bible. You asked, how do we know when they are authentic? The answer is not to try to tell if they are authentic. That is, were they or any part thereof actually written by those people. If you want to read them, put no faith in them. This is particularly true if they violate the law and prophets. That is the standard. Allow me to explain.

Did you know that it is believed that the Torah that scripture says was dictated to Moses by God was written without spaces? Some ancient documents in Hebrew have been found written exactly that way. It is believed that the spaces between words were first used during the time of Ezra. Anyway consider the bullet points below.

• The Torah, the first 5 books of the Bible, is written so that letters in the first two books Genesis and Exodus spells TORAH every 50 letters. The middle Book Leviticus, every 7 letters spells YHVH and the last two books, Numbers and Deuteronomy spells HAROT (Torah backwards) Every 50; as if both the first 2 books and the last 2 points to Leviticus. Like the below:

Genesis>> Exodus>> Leviticus << Numbers <<Deuteronomy.

It was written in a way that that it can ALWAYS be verified and so that any errors could easily be seen. It was clearly written to be forever! It is just that important. The Apostle Paul said that what they wrote and talked about was nothing more that what was already in the LAW and Prophets. Too many people today THINK Jesus came to change the Word of God. They should not; as shown above, he warned them NOT TO THINK THAT. And if your understanding of Scripture violates that until Heaven and earth pass, you will at the least suffer a loss and be considered LEAST even in the Kingdom of Heaven. When you get it right there will be no contradiction and you could preach all that Paul and Peter did from the law and prophets. The Difference between the old and new Testaments is that in the old agreement, if you performed all, you earned your salvation. With the New, Christ earned it for you and you are devoted to becoming more and more like him and will. THERE IS NO OTHER BOOK, that has even been like the Torah by which all other writings are measured to be true or false doctrines.
