JULIE and TED at WORK

When Julie arrived at work the next day, her supervisor took her to task for being late and missing a day.

Supervisor: “But if something attacked your body, you still should have called or had someone else to. What we do is very important to our New World Order.”

Julie: “Once again, I am sorry. It’s not like I am married or something and had someone to call for me".

Supervisor: “Are you sure you weren’t at Ted’s house?”

Julie looking shocked that they seemed to know.

Julie: “What do you mean? I am not married to Ted.”

The Supervisor just looks at her.

Julie: “How is your Mother?”

Supervisor: “Well she really needed treatment several months ago. She is 88 years old and all she will get is end of life care. You know the pains meds and people visiting her. It just seems that she is abiding a living wake.”

Julie: “Don’t you like the new health care system. I mean it is part of that new world order that is supposed
to be so good!”

Supervisor looking strangely at Julie.

Supervisor: “You are not sure about all this, are you?”

Julie: “I just do my job and leave the rest to the experts.”

Supervisor: “I had no doubts, until it was my mother. At least under the old system, she could have gotten the best
 of treatments."

Julie: “Was that not rationing? You know the Insurance companies decided some procedures could not be used.”
(This, she asked testing her.)

Supervisor: “That’s what they say and it usually shuts the mouths of idiots who don’t know the difference. At least
the old way she would have gotten the acceptable treatment. She could even have gone to the hospital without insurance and they would have had to treat her. Or she might have raised money from charities for treatments. Now having the money is not enough. No one dares upset the apple cart to put her inline for treatment.”

“Yea, more people have insurance, but fewer people get timely medical treatment. Do you know what
that means Julie?”

Julie: “What does it mean Mrs. Polly?

Supervisor: “It means that there are people who have made the decision that my mother’s life is not worth the burden to society. Is that a good thing, Julie?”

 She looks weak.
