They took him back to the camp, getting ready to take
him almost immediately to the central office Ralph
runs over to his buddy Don.

Ralph: “Hey Don, we got him. That Hammond is extraordinary!”
He reads minds and stuff. For real!”

Don: ”Yea, I read all about the tests they did with Colonel
Hammond and they were off the charts.”

Ralph: “How come I never heard about the studies?”

Don: “I like to read. Now concerning this Thomas, I was raised in
the general area. I heard he was a good guy but I never wanted to
meet him because he doesn’t believe in gay rights. I never could
understand how a man that was reported to be so wise and kind
could have something against people because of who they are.”

Ralph: “Well this may be your only chance to ask him to
his face. Come on, I will take you to him.”

He rose up and went with Ralph They arrive where
Thomas is being kept in a cell and Don and Thomas
 just looks at each other.

Thomas: “You are Janet’s son, aren’t you?”

Don: “What is that to you?”

Thomas: “Nothing in particular. Go ahead ask your question.”

Don: “Did someone tell you that I had a question to ask?”

Thomas: “No Man spoke to me concerning you.”

Don: “I guess I must be an easy read.”

Don: “I am gay. I was raised about 10 miles from here and I
remember hearing all sorts of amazing things about you. How
kind you supposed to be, the lives that you supposedly have
saved in one way or another. Miracles galore!” One
would think that you were from Nazareth! "

Don: “Set me straight Mr. Miracle man, how is it that
you can be so loving and caring and yet have such a
hatred for gays?

Thomas: “Have you ever heard me say anything
hateful toward anyone?”

Don: “Not me directly, but people that I trust heard
you say that the gay lifestyle was one that God hated.”
Do you deny that you ever said that?”

Thomas: "Listen carefully to me. I have seen good couples
divorce; people under stress commit crimes and vile acts of
lust, thievery and even murder. Even in all these situations
I have only sought to save the life that is to come, even when
there is little hope for this present one.” What ever I may think
of your lifestyle, it could not possibly be worse than murder, yet
I didn’t hate them.”

“We live in an imperfect world. Time and chance happens
to us all. We all have our own burdens to bearand chance
situations to endure. One may be born with a birth defect
and cannot tell if he is man or woman. Another may feel like
all he wants is to have a relationship with are children. Another
may feel like he or she was made to be with multiple partners
and society is unreasonable. Others feel the way you do.
I judge none of them.”
